Urgent Actions Needed

On Tuesday, April 22, 2008 Kansas Department of Health an Environment will hold a public hearing for a Kansas Water Pollution Control Permit for the Westar Energy Center, St. Marys, KS. Westar is adding wet scrubbers to three stacks that will lessen the amount of air pollution emitted from this facility but we need to make sure that Westar will not pollute the waters of the Kansas River in discharging waste water from the wet scrubbers. There will be an informational meeting at 6:30pm followed by the public hearing at 7:30pm at the Memorial Hall Auditorium, 120 SW 10 St., Topeka, KS.

If you are not able to attend the hearing you may send your comments by April 26, 2008 to:
